How to prepare cacao at home

How to Create a Daily Cacao Ritual (Even When You Only Have 2 Minutes)

Most of us don’t have an hour every morning for elaborate self-care routines.

Life gets busy. Alarm clocks get snoozed, schedules fill up, and the first thing to slip away is usually the time we meant to keep for ourselves. When we force rigid, complicated habits onto chaotic mornings, they tend to crash under the pressure of real life.

At Cacaopura, we believe a daily ritual shouldn't be another item on your to-do list. It should be an anchor - a gentle moment to slow down, ground your nervous system, and return to yourself.

Whether you have two minutes standing in a quiet kitchen or fifteen minutes for a deep, guided journey, ceremonial cacao meets you exactly where you are.

Here is a simple guide to building a cacao pause that fits seamlessly into your actual day.

1: The 2-Minute Pause (The Kitchen Counter Ritual)

Best for: Busy mornings, rushing kids off to school, or packed schedules.

You don’t need a quiet meditation room or 30 free minutes to reset your morning. You can do this right in your kitchen, even while standing at the counter while the kettle boils.

How to do it:

  1. Make your daily cacao, bless your coins with joy, love, whatever you are calling in as you put them into your pan.
  2. Hold your warm cup of cacao with both hands. Feel the physical heat grounding your hands.
  3. Take three deep, conscious breaths. Inhale through your nose, exhale slowly out your mouth.
  4. Take one slow sip, and silently ask yourself  Lenka’s favorite morning intentions:
    • How do I want to show up today?
    • What quality do I want to bring into this day?
    • What is one thing I want to call in right now?

That’s it. You don't need to overthink the answer. Simply asking the question sets a conscious tone before the rest of the world starts demanding your attention.

2: The 10-Minute Reset

Best for: Mornings when you need grounding, clarity, or a moment to process racing thoughts.

If you have ten minutes, pairing ceremonial cacao with stream-of-consciousness journaling allows your nervous system to drop into a calm, receptive state. Cacao’s natural magnesium and theobromine relax physical tension, making it easier to connect with what’s going on under the surface.

The 10-Minute Breakdown:

  1. Make your daily cacao, bless your coins with joy, love, whatever you are calling in as you put them into your pan.
  2. Sit comfortably holding your mug. Close your eyes, take three deep breaths, and take 2–3 conscious sips. Feel the warm sensation settling into your chest.
  3. Open your notebook. Pick ONE prompt from the lists below and write continuously without editing or overthinking for the next 5 minutes (you can set timer if keeping time is important to your day).
  4. Anchor & Close - reread what you wrote, underline one key phrase or insight that stands out, take a final sip, let it all settle within you and step into your day.

Choose Your Prompt:

For Grounding & Presence (Best when your brain is racing with to-do lists)

    • What is my body asking for today that my mind has been rushing past?
    • If I could drop one expectation of myself today, what would it be?
    • Where in my body am I holding tension right now, and what happens if I soften around it?

For Heart-Opening & Intention (Best for alignment and focus)

    • How do I want my nervous system to feel by the end of today?
    • What is one small boundary or choice that would protect my peace today?
    • What quality do I want to bring to my interactions today—ease, patience, clarity, or warmth?

For Clarity & Release (Best for overwhelm or overstimulation)

    • What am I ready to stop carrying into this week?
    • If I trusted that everything was moving at the right pace, what would I stop worrying about?
    • Complete this sentence 5 times as fast as you can: 'Right now, what I really need is...'

Pro-Tip: Always pick just one prompt per session. Giving yourself permission to answer one single question keeps the practice lightweight, repeatable, and realistic.

3: The 15-Minute Guided Journey  - A Cacao Meditation with Lenka

Best for: Slow weekend mornings, days off, or moments when you feel called to shed stress and invite deep transformation. When you have a bit more space, allow yourself to be fully held in a guided practice.

Lenka recorded a special 15-minute Morning Cacao Meditation, complete with soft background music and guided heart-centred visualisation. In this video, she walks you through an ancient visualisation of shedding old layers, releasing reactions or behaviours from yesterday that no longer serve you, and stepping into the day feeling lighter and unburdened.
